Car Performance Tuning

by: Tuning Specialist

Car owners often like to have their cars tuned by a professional car tuner to increase the performance or get better fuel economy. These cays such car modifications usually consist of doing work on the vehicle’s electronic control unit (ECU).

In early model cars this was done by changing the chip, but for later models, what is called chip tuning does not really change or modify the chip; rather, ecu tuning is done by updating software in the car’s computer.

This is done by using plug-in modules or finding a specialist car tuner who can either use an OBD flash tool or directly re-programme the circuit board. Audi tuning and BMW tuning should only be done by the specialist who understands such cars and has had years of training.

Highly qualified specialist should also be sought for Mercedes tuning and vw tuning, while Subaru tuning must also be done by those qualified to work on this type of car. By choosing specialist car tuners you will be able to expect and receive the good results you are looking for. Your car will perform better than it has ever done before, while still remaining within the regulations set by the manufacturers - and without posing an environmental hazard.

Car tuning originated in the earliest days of racing cars, when the engines were tuned for peak performance in the hopes of winning races. Tuning them included such tasks as setting the idle speed, adjusting the fuel/air mixture, adjusting the balance of the carburetor, and attending to the spark plugs, the distributor point gaps and ignition timing.

Cars these days are quite different, but still many engine parts are almost the same as in those early days. With the introduction of the electronic control unit many of these tasks are now automated, but there is still a need for periodic calibration.
